Software Engineer Intern → Apprentice
Arista Networks
Intern (1 Year) · Now Apprentice · On-site · Enterprise Networking & Cloud Infrastructure
Started as an intern validating networking features end-to-end on Arista EOS — designing multi-device topologies, testing routing protocol configurations, and troubleshooting issues at the packet level. Now continuing as an apprentice, with deeper exposure to enterprise networking infrastructure, Linux systems, and Python automation.
What I Owned
- Translated specs, design docs, and protocol references into traceable test plans with explicit pass/fail criteria for networking features.
- Designed multi-device topologies — switches, routers, hosts, traffic generators — on Arista EOS and ran functional, regression, scale, and stress passes.
- Validated features including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, link aggregation, QoS policies, multicast configurations, and HA failover scenarios.
- Debugged network issues at the packet level using tcpdump and Wireshark; filed actionable bug reports with reproduction steps, logs, and root-cause hypotheses.
- Performed release-readiness sign-off after running the full validation matrix; collaborated across time zones with developers and cross-functional teams.
- Built Python automation for topology provisioning, log scraping, configuration validation, and result diffing — wired into CI/CD pipelines.
- Gained hands-on experience with Linux systems administration, network infrastructure changes, and connectivity validation workflows.
